August 2
Lace up your running shoes for the 2025 Galloping Gertie on Saturday, August 9, and experience one of the Pacific Northwest’s most scenic races! This popular event includes a half marathon, 10K, and 5K—each course crossing the iconic Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Known as “Galloping Gertie,” the bridge connects Tacoma and Gig Harbor, offering breathtaking views of Puget Sound, Mount Rainier, and the Olympic Mountains.
Few races provide the opportunity to run from span to span on such a historic structure. All participants receive a custom finisher medal, a tech tee, and free downloadable race photos. Even better, proceeds from the event benefit local charities, making each step count.
The original Tacoma Narrows Bridge famously collapsed in 1940 due to aeroelastic flutter, making it one of the most studied engineering failures in history. The current race path crosses the modern eastbound bridge, which opened in 2007 and ensures a safe, exhilarating experience for all runners.
First-timers and seasoned racers alike will enjoy this unique course filled with history, community, and spectacular views. Join the fun and run the bridge that made history. For details and registration, visit GallopingGertie.com.
